When drowning happens, every second counts. Knowing the right steps can save lives.
1. Call for help immediately (1669)
Do not enter the water unless you are trained — panicked victims may unintentionally endanger rescuers.
2. Remember: Reach, Throw, Don’t Go
- Reach with a long object if possible.
- Throw a floating device if they’re too far.
- Don’t go into the water without rescue training.
3. After rescue
- If breathing — place in the recovery position and keep warm.
- If not breathing — perform CPR if certified until emergency help arrives.
- Watch for silent signs: head low in water, weak movement, or gasping for air.
- Together, let’s make every beach and pool safer for everyone.
